Early Childhood Education Sector Partnership
When the pandemic hit, inner-city black-owned childcare providers reached out to request help in developing a solution to the problem of qualified staff in early childhood education. We worked with the owners to come up with a strategy, and The African American Consortium of Early Childhood Educators and The Early Childhood Education Sector partnership was born. We assisted with the development of these partnerships to foster better communication between the centers, higher education, and community organizations who are all working in the community to bring about change in this sector.

The Community-based Trauma Centers Project
When the father of a young child was killed in Cincinnati’s Winton Terrace Community, trauma support teams didn’t come to the rescue, as it normally happens in suburban communities. The community was left to fend for itself. Communities such as Winton Terrace have become accustomed to violence, and support teams are desensitized when it comes to child trauma victims from these violence-ravaged communities. We worked with Winton Hills and Western Hills to develop two trauma centers to train community members, pastors, rec centers, police officers, parents, and others to work with children and heal themselves. We partnered our client, Cincinnati Islamic Community Center, with the Cincinnati Public Schools, the University of Cincinnati, Children’s Hospital, the PIVOT Program, The City of Cincinnati Health Department, Police Department, Fire Department, and foremost experts in trauma to bring about change in the communities and to help children and families suffering from PTSD.
